Late Registration: 'Impossible to afford': UniAbuja Students React to 5k Late Registration Fee


The University of Abuja students react negatively to 5k late registration fee released on the school portal by the school management

This comes after the statement released by the Deputy Registrar (Academics) on the school email community on Thursday

The statement titled, 'Notice to all students on 2019/2020 registration'.

The statement read 'Registration and fees payment for 2019/2020 academic session has ended'.

"All students who paid their fees but have not registered can go ahead and complete teir registration as the portal has been extensively opened for them for a period of one week only" the statement stated.

A 400 level students who refused to disclose is identity describe the charges as hash policy that is not favouring students, imagine no registration and payment of school fees for 100 level students who has done departmental screening, paying the acceptance fee, everything only to be deny to pay school fees and become a student. This is unusual, uncalled for and unacceptable ever in university system.

Benjamin Onileowo, A 100 level student expained that the mistake made previously on the course registration that is leading to late registration and corrections now wasn't the student's fault but that of the School Portal Management Body and ICT inputting incorrect and inappropriate courses on the student's portal and which as kept the students worried, disturbed and hoping for rectification and moderation before COVID-19 breaks sweeps in.

He calls on the management to allow the course registration and corrections to be free without any payment and also plead for reopen portal for school fees payment.

A 200 level student, Oluwapelumi Timileyin relate the late registration fee has unacceptable and atrociousness.

The management has pushed the students a lot on school fees, hostel and acceptance fee increment.

He calls on students to remain calm and reject the late registration fee.

Recall that Uniabuja Channel has earlier reported how the school management placed 1k for add and drop on the school portal in 2020.

West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has cancelled the entire results of some candidates who sat its 2019 private series and 2020 school-based West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCEs) and also barred them from sitting for its future examinations for a certain number of years.
