Strike: What we agreed with FG —ASUU president, Prof Ogunyemi

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Wednesday gave conditions that must be satisfied before calling off its nine months old strike. The lecturers said they did not reach any understanding with the government to suspend the strike on December 9, 2020. ASUU strike: We will shut down all private varsities, says NANS president

The new President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Sunday Asefon, has vowed to shut down all private universities in the country should the nine-month strike embarked on by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities continue The NANS president said this while speaking on a news network outlet, (PUNCH) Online interview programme, The Roundtable. ASUU Strike: FG postpones meeting with ASUU

THE Federal Government on Wednesday postponed the negotiation meeting earlier scheduled today with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU The postponement was contained in a message from Mr. Charles Akpan, Deputy Director, Ministry of Laboru and Employment. According to the message, “The Meeting between ASUU and the Federal Government earlier scheduled for today (Wednesday) by 3pm has been postponed. Thank you for your understanding.” ASUU has been on strike since March this year over the nonpayment of Earned Academic Allowances, non provision of revitalisation fund among others. Recently the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige had announced that government had agreed to make available N70 billion for Earned Allowances which include other three University based unions and the revitalisation fund.
