COVID-19: FG to review Safety Protocols, School Resumption Date

The Federal Government has announced its decision to review the COVID-19 safety protocols as well as the January 18 resumption date for schools in the light of Nigeria’s grim epidemiological situation with regards to the pandemic. Schools Resumption Speaking at Monday’s briefing of the Presidential Taskforce PTF on COVID-19, Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu said the earlier resumption date of January 18 was not cast in stone When we decided on that date, it was just a target towards which we were working. Admission Processing : JAMB to Prosecute Offenders of Admissions Process

 The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says it will work with security agencies to prosecute any institution or candidate found breaching its admission’s code of operations. The board announced this in its latest Weekly Bulletin made available to the Newsmen on Monday in Abuja. It said that henceforth, stringent measures, including prosecution, would be taken against erring candidate or institution once a prima facie case has been established against them. The decision, the board elucidated, is part of its resolution after the management meeting on the imperative of ridding the admissions process of unwholesome practices. COVID-19: ASUU Expresses Concerns over Jan 18 Resumption Date

The Chairmen of various chapters of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Sunday expressed concerns over resumption of academic activities on January 18 saying the institutions were not ready for safe reopening Tertiary institutions took a break from academic activities due to both the COVID-19 pandemic and a personal and institution welfare-related face-off with the Federal Government which has kept them out of classes for over 9 months.
