[BREAKING]: NASU, SSANU Meet Over Indefinite Strike Tuesday Next Week

THE Non-Academic Staff Institutions, (NASU), and the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, (SSANU), will meet on Tuesday next week to examine the outcome of the just-concluded three-day protest and decide whether to declare a total and indefinite strike This was part of the decision of the National Joint Action Committee, JAC, meeting on Thursday in Abuja. In a circular approved by Dr Makolo Hassan and Comrade Mohammed Ibrahim, NASU President and SSANU respectively, the branches were instructed to take a holistic review of the warning protest and take a final decision as regards embarking on indefinite strike. JUST IN: Don't Reopen Schools Now, CAGG warns FG

The Federal Government of Nigeria has been warned against reopening of schools in the country Olusegun Bamgbose, Esq., National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, gave the warning on Thursday citing the increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections in the country. He advised the Federal Government to be extremely careful in view of the spike and upsurge of the pandemic in recent weeks. [BREAKING]: Schools Resumes January 18 - Education Minister, Adamu

The Federal Government has given the nod for schools to resume on January 18 after reaching consensus with Governors, Commissioners and other stakeholders. The consensus was reached at a meeting between the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu and Commissioners of Education in Abuja. The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono, who confirmed this to news correspondent, said: "We have had extensive discussions with state governors, proprietors of schools, labour /staff unions and students'reprisetatives. And the consensus is that we should reopen all schools. "But the reopening of schools will be in compliance with COVID-19 protocols, especially strict adherence to non-pharmaceutical procedures."
