A human rights organisation under the aegis of Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre on Monday met with stakeholders in the education sector to fashion out ways to check the trend of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in universities and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria . The meeting was attended by representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education, National Universities Commission and six Universities, including a representative of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja. The one-day strategic meeting had as its theme, ‘Partnership on strengthening policies and systems in higher institutions on zero tolerance on sexual and gender-based violence. The chairperson of the Board of WARDC, Prof. Jumai Audi, said SGBV had been aggravated more in Africa, cutting across cultural, geographic and economic barriers.
