UniAbuja VC, Prof. Abdul-rasheed Na'Allah Bags National Builders Achievers Award

 UniAbuja Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrasheed Na'Allah has been honored with the National Builders Achievers Award (NBAA) for providing remarkable leadership at the University of Abuja The Award ceremony which held at the NAF conference centre on Friday 18th, December 2020 The Award Committee described Prof. Na'Allah as a hardworking and innovative leader. Prof. Na'Allah, who thanks The National Builders Achievers Awards (NBAA) for the recognition.  "I believe Nigeria deserves to be the first in every good thing. At the UofA, we are prepared to provide good leadership to change our institution and nation for the better", he said.

Strike: FG, ASUU Keep Mum after Five-Hour Meeting

 The Federal Government and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, on Thursday, kept mum on the outcome of a closed-door meeting called to resolve the lingering strike which had grounded academic activities in the universities. The five-hour meeting, which started about 5:13 pm, and ended around 10 p.m, was re-convened by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, after it was earlier postponed twice. After the parley, the government team and ASUU did not release any statement on the agreements reached during the closed-door session. The government had during the November 27 meeting with the union pledged N40 billion as the Earned Allowance and N30bn for the revitalization of the university system bringing the total payment to N70 billion It also promised to pay the arrears of salaries to the lecturers. ASUU Strike: FG, ASUU In Closed-Door Meeting

 The representatives of federal government and leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are currently in a marathon closed-door over ongoing strike that had grounded academic activities in universities. The meeting, which started at about 5:13pm was re-convened by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, after it had earlier been postponed twice and later cancelled. ASUU had earlier expressed its displeasure over statement credited to the Minister, noting that the government had handled the nine-month-old strike poorly. Strike: FG, ASUU to resolve crisis soon, says Ekiti State Gov

COVID-19: UniAbuja Teaching Hospital Honours 100 Frontline Staff

 The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada Abuja has given award to 100 staff who worked tirelessly to attend to COVID-19 cases at the facility. The Chief Medical Director, UATH, Prof. Bissalla Ekele at the presentation of the award to the outstanding staff said the recognition was to boost the morale of the staff. The CMD said the first confirmed case in FCT, Abuja four weeks after the Lagos case on February 27, 2020, was admitted at UATH (the first and the only hospital then in FCT with the capacity to manage COVID-19). He also said the frontline healthcare workers as at December 1, 2020, had managed 313 cases of COVID-19 (mostly moderate to severe cases that needed oxygen support).
